BASF are a long-established chemical producer regarded as a global leader. Their Performance Materials Construction Division specialises in developing chemicals that deliver better, faster and more cost-effective results.
Cisco Homes Ltd. are an Approved Contractor for the application of BASF spray foam insulation and we use their products in our range of home insulation solutions including loft insulation.
BASF spray foam insulation products are applied by FOAM MASTERS, trained professionals with the necessary equipment and knowledge to ensure optimal performance.
The properties of BASF spray polyurethane foam vary depending on the specific product used. Cisco Homes Ltd. can advise you on the best BASF spray foam product for your circumstances when we carry out our survey.
BASF spray foam insulation can be broadly divided into two types:
BASF closed cell spray foam insulation (e.g. Elastospray® and Elastospray® LWP) entraps bubbles of gas within the foam and sets rigidly. This achieves almost zero air permeability making closed cell foams ideal for thermal insulation. Closed cell SPFs also add mechanical strength to the building envelope and some products can be used externally.
Due to their low water permeability, closed cell foams may not be suitable in areas of high condensation risk. Cisco Homes Ltd. will assess your loft’s condensation risk before recommending an insulation product.
BASF open cell spray foam insulation (e.g. Enertite®) is less rigid when set, giving it excellent breathability and soundproofing properties at the expense of reduced thermal performance. It is a cost-effective alternative to closed cell foams for internal application.
The performance of all BASF SPF insulation products is enhanced by the lack of thermal bridging. This is because the foam forms one continuous, seamless layer.
Next-gen Green BASF spray foam insulation
BASF have been at the forefront of the global drive to reduce global warming through the development of eco-friendly chemicals.
Recent additions to the BASF product catalogue include Elastospray® LWP (low warming potential) and Enertite®. Both products are free of toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and ozone-depleting hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
Elastospray® LWP replaces HFCs with hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) which have zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). As well as being free of harmful F-gases, HFO-blown SPFs have an extremely low global warming potential (GWP) of 1. In contrast, HFC-blown foams can have GWPs of anywhere between 50 and 15,000.
Enertite® uses water as a blowing agent and also boasts an ODP of zero and a GWP of 1.
